Readers of all ages will explore all things underground this summer as Sac City Public Library presents “Dig Into Reading” during their summer library program.  There is a program for babies through preschool, children in grades Pre-K through 4, a teen program for middle school grades 5-8 and an adult program.  Activities for children include:
Friday, May 31st: Literacy Fair & Mad Science Kickoff (Fair starts at 1:00/Mad Science begins 2:00)
Friday, June 7th  :  Blank Park Zoo Show & Tell at 1:00 p.m.
Friday, June 14th: Sanford Museum’s Archaeology Program & Cave Painting at 1:00 p.m.                     
Friday, June 21st:  ISU-E Conservation Station 10:00 to 2:00 & Craft Day 1:00 p.m.
Friday, June 28th: Sac County Conservation- Burrowing Animals at 1:00 pm
Friday, Aug. 9th: Rick the Magician Magic Show & Final Party (Come for Prizes & to eat the World’s Largest Gummy Worm) at 1:00 p.m.         
The Google + Maker Camp will be held for teens with Maker Mondays at 10:00 a.m. and Field Trip Fridays starting July 8th through August 16th.  The Adult summer reading contest will run from June 1st through August 30th.  The 2013 Summer Reading Program is open to all with programs, prize drawings, story hours, reading contests and more.  Registration for Dig Into Reading is now available for all ages and families are invited to attend the Literacy Fair Kickoff on May 31st from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. to register for summer reading, make a summer reading treasure map, check out the dinosaur cave, get a balloon animal and much more.  Mad Science will be here to kick things off with a bang at 2:00 that day!  The Literacy Fair is funded by the Decat Neighborhood Networking Grant to help kids and parents learn tips to make reading a part of every day this summer and to help prevent loss of reading skills over the summer months.
